The cable features six wire-ended outputs(5V, TTL): GND (Black), CTS# (Brown), VCC (Red), TXD (Orange), RXD (Yellow), and RTS# (Green). This versatile cable can be used for various applications, such as upgrading legacy peripherals to USB, interfacing Microcontroller UART or I/O to USB, connecting FPGA/PLD to USB, creating USB instrumentation PC interfaces, facilitating USB industrial control, and supporting USB software/hardware encryption dongles.
Product Overview
The TTL-232R-5V-WE from FTDI is an USB to UART cable with +5V TTL level UART signals. It incorporates FTDI's FT232RQ USB to serial UART interface IC which handles all the USB signalling and protocols. The cable provides fast, simple way to connect devices with TTL level serial interface to USB. It contains small internal electronic circuit board utilising FT232R which is encapsulated into USB connector at end of the cable. The cable has unterminated bare and tinned wires at other and. The USB side of the cable is USB powered and USB 2.0 full speed compatible.
